Join special guest Kathleen Connellan (Lecturer in design and craft history/ theory at the South Australian School of Art), Brisbane based artist Ruth McConchie (Master of Arts by Research at QUT) and Danielle Clej (PhD candidate in practice-led research at QUT) for a discussion generated by McConchie’s object based arrangement For Cuckold Culottes; the Certainity of Cynosure. The panel will explore Kathleen’s research interests in domesticity, gender, craft identities and economics, ritual and appropriation in design in connection to Ruth’s practice-led research on the relationships between objects, memories, space, ritual and fetishism.
Shifting between disciplines, observations, confessions, research, theories and artworks, the discussion will raise transgressive propositions, eyebrows and fits of laughter as the Apollonian call for order is balanced by Dionysian irrationality and choas.

Brisbane artist Jemima Wyman speaks with No Frills* Program Artists Sarah Byrne and Joseph Breikers. These artists share an interest in affecting the viewer through humour, opticality and the body. This discussion will focus on their particular considerations of the viewer in relation to these ideas.
This program is held in conjunction with TRENCH MOUTH an installation by Sarah Byrne showing at No Frills* until November 21.
